Sarre Shield - two years in a row!

I'm very pleased to annouce that PACC has won the Sarre Shield for the second year in a row!

:wav:

The shield is awarded to the SA club that is most successful at state championship events, with 3 points per gold medal, 2 points per silver and 1 point per bronze. In the last 12 months we scored a total of 160 points, with Norwood CC coming in second (139 points) and Central Districts third (126 points).

Not surprisingly, the bulk of our points (128) came from track events.

Well done to all of the riders who competed and won medals. It goes to show what a diverse range of riders we have (points are scored for all Masters categories, male and female), and also what a talented bunch you all are!

Does the shield actually exist?

If so: presentation/celebration function?

Way to go PACC'ers!

Do we have a list of medal winners?

(I am up for a mas2 team sprint this year if any existing teams need another member, happy to ride and train for any position).

A couple of people have suggested an end of year function for the club (maybe in the Superdrome VIP room). We could certainly strive to have the Sarre Shield present for such an occasion!

What we'd need is someone to put their hand up to organise the show... anyone?

this is PACC, therefore any function shall be in a pub and a pub only.

can we get that put into the constitution?

I'd be happy to organise somthing. But have it somewhere a bit more lively than in the superdrome VIP room.
Lively = somewhere where there is a vast array of beer on tap :occasion5:

I am happy to help out Daniel, (uni will be on break nov/dec for time critical stuff during the lead up).
I could do some leg work and put the information back to members here for feedback on decisions in the meantime.

regardless of who helps co-ordinate a few questions to the board and members to get us started...

How many would we expect to have to cater for at a PACC Christmas show/function?

PAYG bar or a drinks package?

sit down dinner or finger food?

entertainment?

booking at a pub is the easiest by far

get your own food, get your own drinks

all you need to confirm is numbers

looks like the board has spoken, dont think i have ever seen so many responses so quickly... lol

beer-priorities... lol

well I am in.

Do we want a function room/private area or just booked space?
location?

town/central is my prefered option to simplify transport.

could we get side a deal from a venue that advertises in the entertainment books the club sells?

I was thinking something in the next month. Celebrate:
- End of Winter Track Series #1
- End of (inaugural) CX series #1
- Winning the Sarre Shield which is an amazing feat and a testament to the quality riders PACC has accross Elite, many masters age groups and and J17/19.
- Quietish race calendar in july

Go to a pub where the tour de france is showing live, basically take it over, eat schnitzels and drink beer....

the directors on gouger has thai food and will have the race on, think they will do a % discount of food and drinks too. maybe free 8 ball, a free function room for 8 or more, willing venue/cheap, parking is ok but lacks some atmosphere.

the ed castle on currie has a few big screens and lots of $10.00 menu items, a dinning area/stage that could be used for presentations, marginly better.

the astor or the bull and bear are maybe a bit nicer again, but offer deals. especially the B&B (but parking is a PIA).

the electric light has new owners so they would be eager, but i think its even a bit too seedy for me, so i am sure it is for every body else.

Might be able to use the rear bar at the austral for free?
my brother has used the venue there a few times to perform and has never paid more than $50 (i think it depends on numbers).

Any other ideas?
Regards, Dale
