PACC TT Summer Series – Event 2 – January 13th 2013

The second round of the 2013 Summer series presented less than usual summer weather with clouds threatening rain for those riding out to the start. Despite this, there were 37 entries (including two tandems and a hand cyclist) out in the cold and wet conditions. At least it wasn't quite as windy.

The PACC Clock (small version) saw riders leave at one minute intervals from 7:31am.

The marshalls at the turn were kept busy advising riders to slow down as they turned at Largs Bay, but the slippery surface got the better of some riders, with the bike skills of others on show.

A comparison of the December results indicate some vast improvements and PB's were achieved.

Although no teams entered, and junior riders were busy at the state track championships, there were increased numbers across many categories, including para cyclists.

A few interesting category battles included:

Female 35+ - the G train doubled her ascendance against Annabel Cox with a 'huge' 4 second gap. Perhaps we can blame birthday cake consumption. Can't wait to see February's battle!

Male - Darren Searle came out a winner despite an 'eventful' morning including a spill at the turn and a front blow out on the way home.

Male 35+ - PACC's newest international recruit Marc Freemantle smashed the category by 1:48 and breaking the 45km/h barrier.

Thanks to Renee Hennessey (Commissaire), Chris Mack (trailer, setup and marshalling), Samara Farrell (setup and marshalling), Iain and Yolande Jones (sign on, timing and flamboyant finishing flag flapping), Alex 'Treasure' Bates (number pinner-onerer, holder and indicative result giver).

Looking forward to February's round.
