PACC TT Summer Series – Event 1 – December 2nd 2012

Firstly, many thanks to Dan Searson for his handover notes for this season’s TT series. There is much to take away from today’s event, to ensure a smooth morning for all concerned. With little time to promote, bar CXLite, Adelaide Cyclists, and BookFace, we were kept very busy signing almost 50 riders on by the programmed start time. Based on today’s numbers our TTs have been missed by many, with significant interest in the teams format.

As ever, course conditions were….. windy! With the first team off around 7.30am, riders began their ‘race of truth’.

Fastest overall (individual) was Rohan Wright ten seconds ahead of Jonathon Stephens. Quickest team was the foursome of Hogan, Porter, Fumpson & Wood putting 44 seconds into Harland, Chapman & Shaw.

With less than 1.5 seconds between Gemma Kernich and Annabel Cox, the fastest female battle was spiritual (neither used electronic devices).

Two new riders (3 race permits), Walker & Kerin, pipped by Adam Thompson in the 35+ category. The more distinguished gentlemen (50+) were left in Andy Holmesby’s wake noting that Andrew Van Arnd forgave his TT rig for a roadie as he also raced vets this morning. Third place - init.

At the other end of the age scale, we saw two juniors compete over the shorter 7.5km course. Lachlan Prider triumphed over his younger opponent Oliver Wilson.

Ben Wilson emerged victorious by 24 seconds over Matthew Double in the non-aero category.

A HUGE thank you to Will, Denis, Chris, Samara, Mark, Alasdair, and Ian Pedler for getting the event up, on, and done all in time for a well-earned visit to The Mill.
