Winter Track Racing - Night 6 26th Sept

Last Winter Track Night (BRING ON SUMMER!)

26th Sept

Club racing All seniors and 'allowed' U17s welcome.
Sign on and warm up for 6pm
Racing from 6.45

I'm thinking of making it a bit of a enduro night - scratch, points and a few mystery events thrown in (taking suggestions!)

Roadman's pursuit - a test for the sprinter with endurance..

Roadmans pursuit - five riders 50m apart, catch if catch can...

Once a rider is caught, they are withdrawan. Winner is last rider on the track (or the first to complete the maximum laps - 25). Works really well on a bigger track, but could spice up the enduro with what sometimes turns into a crazily long race for the last two riders..Perhaps make it a 25 lap max, with 'distance' defined by laps of original start point; e.g. Holder remains as lap counter at start station.

Just a thought, and of course needs holders.

Sounds like fun, MG. Gets my vote.

Sounds like the Aussie pursuit we held last year https://vimeo.com/29594491
riders at 25mtrs would work well on the track.

If we can get a confirmed derny rider then I'm all up for moto-paced races. Finding a qualified derny rider is a bit hard, (and i don't think its fair to ask one of the riders to be the derny - they want to race!)

OK so search for a qualified derny rider ....

Elimination points race.

Every X laps the last rider gets eliminated as per usual, but at the front end its a sprint for points as per a points race. When you get eliminated you just lose the ability to get any more points. Highest points at the end wins.

Elimination race without the bunching at the back... conceivably you could win a bunch of early sprints to build up a buffer so that it doesn't matter if you get eliminated later.

I have no idea if this would work or not, I'm probably just talking rubbish...
The ideal number of bikes is one... I just can't decide which one.

Cops and Robbers. The robber starts with a half track lead(maybe two robers working together for a short track). He's stolen 1st through 5th place and needs to get back to the hideout 10 laps away. A cop can take back a placing for themselves if they overtake the robbers. The idea is that as the cops get closer the team work dissipates and sometimes the catch never happens.

After re reading and old post. Its more like 5 laps and the lead is more like 3/4 of a lap. Once you overtake for a placing you can retire. Invented at Dick Lane Velodrome, I'm not sure how long that track is.
Another idea is a handicapped team pursuit, Grade vs grade.

Hi Racers and Friends,
The final night of winter track is planned :) If you are able to assist with sign on or holding on the night we'd really appreciate it.

It is recommended that riders arrange a holder for one event, we'll need them to stay at the 'holding' position until the heats/race is complete as we'll use them as a marker.

See you on the 26th :)
