is there any interest for this ride to be an actual 'training' ride once every now and then with a rotation going?

You could take a turn in the front into the headwind this time if you want to make it more difficult...
the ideal number of bikes is one more than you currently have

hey last time i did this ride myself and mick were on the front for about 75% of the whole ride! and 'those that shall remain un named' were on the front for a grand total of about 15 seconds into the wind

carn, who wants to do a proper rotation... its fun

Alex, I'd be happy to come along if there was likely to be more riding and less freewheeling/caffeinating/sitting-around-at-a-bakery. An hour of riding over the course of two hours just doesn't seem worth it to me.

maybe we should split into two groups at the start if there are people wanting to do the normal ride and people wanting to do something a bit more 'training' ?

I suggest soft-pedalling bunch goes down port road to the Mill whilst the 'training' bunch goes down grange or even ANZAC and then along Millitery Rd to the Mill. Hopefully they should both get there at the same time.

Then outer harbour or whatever.

What would the parameters of the 'training' ride be?
Dist
Avg Spd

I agree, LOTS of sitting around in a cafe does make it a long ride time

Ramp it up until we drop 50% of the group? The dropped members can form their own slower group. Stop riding when we get bored.
